This Privacy Policy explains what Find My Best Shades ("we", "us") collects when you use this website, why, and the choices you have. We run this site from Vietnam and serve customers mainly in the United States. Questions or requests: findmybestshades@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your photo. The selfie you upload for a color reading. Face detection and color sampling run in your browser, and this photo check happens before you pay. After you pay, a copy is also sent, securely, to an AI service to help interpret the reading (see "Who we share with").
- Color measurements from your photo. Numeric color values for your skin, iris, eye whites and eyebrows, plus the resulting season and scores. We do not store your photo, a face template, or any data used to identify who you are.
- Your name (optional). The first name you type in, used only to greet you. It stays in your browser.
- Your email and order details. If you pay, PayPal gives us your order confirmation and email so we can let you restore purchased checks and help with any problem with your order. We never see or store your card details.
- Approximate location. Your city, region and country, estimated from your IP address, to understand where our visitors are.
- Feedback. Star ratings, comments, and the short reason you pick if you leave without downloading your results.
- Data stored in your browser. Your remaining checks, name, scan-attempt count and feedback history are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.
How we use it
To produce your color reading and shade matches, take payment, restore your purchases, help with any problem with your order, fix problems, improve the accuracy of our matching, and respond to you. We do not sell your personal information, do not share it for advertising, and do not use your photo to train any model.
Who we share with
- PayPal processes payments under its own privacy policy.
- Anthropic (Claude AI) receives your photo, sent through our server, to help interpret your reading. It is used to return your result.
- Google hosts the spreadsheet where we log measurements, feedback and order events, serves our fonts, and hosts the face-detection model your browser downloads.
- jsDelivr serves the face-detection code your browser loads.
- ipwho.is looks up an approximate location from your IP address.
- Netlify hosts this website.
These providers process data on our behalf or under their own policies. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Face and biometric information
Analysis of your photo involves detecting facial landmarks in order to find where your skin, eyes and eyebrows are. We use this only to sample colors. We do not use it to recognize or identify you, we do not create or keep a face template, and landmark data is discarded when your reading finishes. By uploading a photo you consent to this analysis.
How long we keep things
We do not keep your photo. Numeric measurements, feedback and order records are kept for as long as we need them to run and improve the service, then deleted. You can ask us to delete your records at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Residents of California and certain other US states have specific legal rights over their personal information; email us and we will honor valid requests. You can also clear your browser's site data, or simply not upload a photo.
Cookies and tracking
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. PayPal may set its own cookies while its payment buttons load. Our own browser storage is described above.
Children
This service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
International use
Your information is processed in the United States and in Vietnam, where we operate, and wherever our providers run their systems.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
By using Find My Best Shades ("the Service") you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
What the Service is
The Service estimates your color season and suggests lipstick shades from your photo. It is for personal, informational and entertainment purposes. It is not medical, dermatological or professional cosmetic advice.
Accuracy
Results depend on your photo, lighting, camera and screen. Shade colors shown on screen are approximations and the real product may look different on you. We do not guarantee that a recommended shade will suit you or match its on-screen color.
Your photo and your responsibilities
Upload only photos of yourself, or of someone who has given you permission. If you are under 18, use the Service only with a parent or guardian's permission. Don't upload unlawful content or misuse the Service, including trying to bypass payment.
Payments
Prices are shown in US dollars before you pay and are charged once through PayPal. Each payment unlocks the reading or checks described on the pricing card. My Shade / Not My Shade unlocks unlimited checks for 1 year from your purchase date; once that year is up, it can be renewed for the same price to keep checking. Refunds are covered in our Refund Policy.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by MAC Cosmetics, Revlon, L'Oréal Paris or Maybelline. Brand and product names belong to their owners. Buy links go to third-party websites we don't control; their terms and policies apply there. See Shop Links Disclosure.
Our content
The Service, its matching method, design and text belong to us. Your results are for your personal use.
Disclaimer and limits
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the reading involved.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms and the Service. Continued use means you accept the updated terms. Contact: findmybestshades@gmail.com.
We check your photo before you pay. Before any payment, we pre-check your photo's exposure (lighting) and that your face is clear, so we can be sure we can take a right, accurate measurement.
You are only charged when your photo is right. If your photo doesn't pass the check, we ask you to retake it and you pay nothing. You only see the payment step after your photo passes.

Our lipstick picks include "Buy now" links. These links go straight to each brand's official website (maccosmetics.com, revlon.com, lorealparisusa.com and maybelline.com).
We do not currently earn a commission or any payment from these links. Our picks are ranked only by how closely each shade fits your measured coloring.
If we add affiliate links in the future, where we may earn a commission when you buy, we will label them clearly and update this page before we do.
